MEET THE EMBERS
Different voices. Different stories. Same flame.
Every Ember brings something different to the fire.
Writers, poets, artists, editors, and storytellers gather here from across the darker corners of creativity. Meet the people behind the stories—and discover what they're creating.

She is also the creator of several ongoing fictional worlds and series, including Deck of Lost Souls.
Through The Black Lantern Society, Raven works alongside fellow co-founder and Editor-in-Chief Nora B. Peevy to create a home where writers, artists, editors, and storytellers can collaborate, experiment, and bring darker stories into the light.

Nora B. Peavy

Peevy is a horror author, editor, and co-founder of The Black Lantern Society, where she serves as Editor-in-Chief and helps guide the Society’s creative projects, publications, and growing community of dark storytellers. She also serves as Editor-in-Chief for Virefire Publishing, working with authors and contributors to shape, refine, and bring independently owned stories into publication.
Nora B. Peevy is a cat trapped in a human’s body. Please send help or tuna. She toils away for JournalStone and Trepidatio Publishing as a submissions reader, is a co-editor for Alien Sun Press, the newest reviewer for Hellnotes, and has been published by Eighth Tower Press, Weird Fiction Quarterly, and other places.
Usually, you can find her on Facebook asking for help escaping from her human body or to get tuna. Tuna is nice. Cats like tuna.

J. Rocky Colavito
J. Rocky Colavito, aka Dr. Damned, aka The Breathing Trigger Warning, lives in the desert Southwest where the heat is dry and the javelina, bobcats, and coyotes roam occasionally through his neighborhood. On good days, an unkindness of ravens pays a visit, sometimes bearing shiny trinkets. He works in a cluttered space, filled with toys, books, curios, and things that he shouldn’t eat. From this space, he writes works in keeping with his brand All The Genres of The Dark.
His work ranges from quiet and “safe” horror to extreme forays that have gotten him banned in certain business and in all likelihood made his former workplace very uneasy. He is the creator of Buck Neighkyd (porn star turned occult detective), a series of neo-giallo novels, another series best described as Cocaine Bear, but with cryptids, noir fiction set in the world of 1960’s beach party movies, and a raft of stories that appear in collections from Wicked Shadow Press, Alien Buddha Press, Twisted Dreams Press, The Butchered Writers, collections by Sidney Shiv, Judith Sonnet, and Kevin Kennedy, and, of course, WATG press.
His stories also appear in a diverse set of magazines: Caveman, Carnage House, Werewolf Magazine, Schlock!, Dark Dossier (rip), and The Horror Zine (rip). With settings ranging from the rings and locker rooms of professional wrestling to infected swamps and bayous, Rocky is at home where ever his writing takes him. He is a former college English professor turned full time horror writer, and still proudly wears the mantle of the one they warned you about.
His epitaph will read: Somebody had to do it; damn glad it was me.

Colt M. Henderson
Colt M. Henderson lives north of Dallas, Texas with his dog Sir Cottonwood III. He is a prolific writer with an emphasis on horror. He has been published in the Butchered Writers Present series.
He is currently working on his first novel about a wendigo.

Winona Morris
Winona Morris is a horror author with over three decades of writing experience and three years in professional publication. She specializes in quiet, character‑driven horror where the unease grows from emotional depth as much as from the monsters that stalk the page.
Her work has appeared in numerous web and print publications, including Carnage House, Books of Horror, Enrapturing Tales, From the Ashes, Ruth Anna Evans Horror, and others.
Winona is the author of Borrowed Bones, a full‑length novel exploring grief and the monsters it creates, as well as the short‑story collection On Darkened Wings and Other Short Horrors. Both are available on Amazon.
